Production Manager Part Time

At British Gypsum we’re looking for a Production Manager to work in our Robertsbridge Plant, inspiring our Operational Team to perform to the best of their ability whilst continuously improving site performance and ensuring safety is top priority.

This Production Manager role will be a part of the wider Senior Leadership Team. You’ll ideally be from a manufacturing or engineering background with experience of delivering WCM techniques to improve production. You’ll be an inspirational leader who will drive the site forward and coach and mentor your team to do the same!

British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we’re very proud of.

This is a Monday – Friday role based fully on-site, however we can be flexible with our start and finish times to suit your circumstances. We do ask that in return you are willing to be flexible outside of these hours and be contactable, inevitably in a 24/7 operation emergencies do occur, and we may need to get hold of you outside of office hours.

What we’re looking for:

Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
Significant experience in fast-paced manufacturing/production
Experience in a unionised manufacturing/production management environment
A strong leader with a proven track record of engaging teams to achieve desired results
Background in Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing/WCM
A health and safety mindset with experience in leading proactive safety behaviours

What you will be doing:

Drive the plant performance and address losses by applying World Class Manufacturing (WCM) tools
Execution of the medium-term plans for the area, applying for Capex for projects
Uses data to analyse and forecast, ensuring that maintenance plan/activities are adjusted as required and that time is used effectively.
Drives a safe and sustainable working environment
Develop colleagues, identifying future talent as well as skills gaps and putting succession plans in place
