An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished planning professional to lead and shape a dedicated team as Head of Planning in York. This role is ideal for someone ready to take on a strategic leadership position within a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

About the Role
As the Head of Planning, you’ll oversee a team of six skilled planners, steering them on a diverse range of projects while ensuring the highest standards of delivery. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, you’ll play a key role in business planning and strategic decision-making, directly contributing to the direction and success of the department and the wider organization.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of six planners, promoting professional growth and high performance.
Actively contribute to business planning, shaping the department’s objectives and future growth.
Make strategic decisions to drive team and project success.
Work on a variety of planning projects and provide expert guidance to both clients and team members.

About You
Experienced Town planner with a background in the private sector
MRTPI Qualified
Strong understanding of planning legislation and policy.
Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, able to inspire and guide
the team effectively.
