General Assistant – Reception and Bar Part Time

My client is looking for a General Assistant, with the main combined duties being front of house Reception, meeting and greeting guests, and also providing a bar service, to join this prestigious hospitality establishment, located in Rye. Possible live in is available for this role.

A couple or friends, can also be considered as we have an opportunity for a Chef de Partie at this moment in time.

Part-time hours or full time, will be considered if you live in the local area

The purpose of the role as a General Assistant is to work and provide support to the front of house daily operations within this property. Shift work is involved to include early / late cover.

As a General Assistant, the ideal candidate will have some experience working on hotel reception and some food & beverage, particularly bar service.

Your role is to provide a friendly, hospitable and efficient service, ensuring that excellent customer service is provided at all times to ensure a lasting impression to all guests. If you like variety this role will be ideal for you.

Within the RECEPTION, duties consist of:

• Being in a customer facing role, being an engaging person, with a friendly manner and who thrives in a busy environment
• Guest check in and check out
• Assisting customers with luggage and taking to rooms if they need this help or organising for this to be done
• Answering guests queries before they arrive and when they arrive
• Greeting walk in potential customers for bedrooms and the bar / restaurant
• Answering phones and responding to emails quickly and efficiently
• Taking bookings on the phone and via computer, upselling to maximise sales
• Complaint handling in a calm manner and addressing these if you can or getting assistance from the manager on duty
• Seeking a team player, who can and will be happy to assist wherever needed at times and also be able to work on your own at times

Within the BAR area, duties include:

• Being a team player, but also able to work on your own
• Have a genuine passion for the service of bar drinks to include cocktails / beers / wines, along with some food service
• You are encouraged to interact with guests, creating an informal and relaxed surrounding
• Provide a passionate customer service working with other team members and management, resulting in a fun and supportive environment

The salary for the role of General Assistant (with an emphasis on Reception and Bar duties) is given as from 11.44 + / per hour / according to level of experience / plus other company benefits and rewards for your work. There is the possibility of live-in accommodation.

If you live outside the local Rye area, transport will be desirable to give more flexibility for the required shift work demands of this hands-on role.
