Plant Area Manager Hampshire
Salary: DOE
Know your plants and ready for more responsibility? Perhaps you’re already helping run a plant area and would love the chance to get involved in buying, but haven’t had the opportunity yet?
This Plant Area Manager role could be your next step. Buying experience isn’t essential, but strong plant knowledge is.
About the Business
This is a smaller garden centre where you’ll have the chance to get involved beyond your own department. You’ll work closely with the Garden Centre Manager, contribute ideas and play a part in decisions across the business.
There’s also room to grow. With succession planning in mind, there’s scope for the right person to develop into a more senior role.
About the Role
You’ll take responsibility for the plant area, from looking after the plants and creating attractive displays to organising stock and helping customers choose the right plants for their gardens. You’ll also take on plant buying, building your experience in selecting ranges and planning seasonal stock.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll lead a small team of part-time colleagues, organise the day’s priorities and get stuck into the practical work yourself, including deliveries and moving stock.
You’ll have keyholding responsibilities and become involved in wider conversations around marketing and staffing as your role develops. The working pattern includes alternate weekends and a set day off during the week.
About You
You’ll bring strong plant knowledge, practical experience in a plant retail environment and the confidence to help customers with their questions.
You might be an experienced Plant Area Assistant or Supervisor ready to step up, or already managing a department and looking for more involvement in buying and the wider business. Previous buying experience is welcome, but it isn’t a requirement.
You’ll enjoy working alongside a small team, taking responsibility and keeping the department looking its best. If you’re keen to move into broader garden centre management over time, there’s room to have that conversation here.
